The Liberal Party sent a letter to Prime Minister Harper and Minister Bernier regarding the imprisonment of unionist Mansour Osanlou.
The letter reads in part as follows: “The human rights situation in Iran continues to deteriorate. Under the extremist leadership of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the people of Iran continue to witness the violation of their human rights as guaranteed by the international law. Canada has historically acted boldly and clearly in demanding that Iranian officials must end their violations of human rights and become a responsible member of the world community.
The letter was signed by 14 Liberal MPs and sent during International Action Day to free Osanlou.
The Teamsters Union has been campaigning for months to obtain the release of the Iranian unionist.
