Laval, QC, March 5, 2020 – Today, the Teamsters Canada National Executive Board voted unanimously to endorse Linda Silas as the next president of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).

“Sister Silas is a tough-as-nails trade unionist with a strong track record. She is by far the best person to lead Canada’s labour movement into this new decade,” declared the national president of Teamsters Canada, François Laporte.

Silas, a fiery labour leader, is the president of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions. She has more than three decades of union experience. She was instrumental in brining pharmacare into the national spotlight and uniting the labour movement behind the idea. Prior to becoming a union leader, Silas was a nurse who practised in high-pressure environments like the ER and the intensive care unit.
