The 24-hour factory strike at the Sandoz pharmaceutical factory is now a lockout. The employer turned away workers who showed up this morning for a 7-hour shift. This irresponsible pressure tactic could eventually disrupt the supply of medications to hospitals.
Sandoz workers in Boucherville overwhelmingly rejected the employer’s offer and 91% voted in favour of a strike mandate at Saturday’s union meeting. The work stoppage will take place when deemed appropriate. At issue are wages and failure to respect seniority when assigning shifts.
